Transylvanian Dance – The duo harmonizes perfectly.
Ban and Maneri condense folkloric ideas into a chamber music suite. Above all, the violist, who went through a strict school of microtonal objectivity with his father Joe Maneri, discovers completely new sides (and strings) of emotional ecstasy in himself here. The intimate dancefulness of this pas de deux amounts to a kind of ritual that removes any distance between makers and listeners. When listening, you become part of the sound, which oscillates between dripping and drone. The more you are captivated by them, the more vehement and inescapable the sages of Maneri and Ban appear.
